The Gut- the largest sensory organ

The Gut is home to our digestive system, as well as the gut microbes and their genetic material, that exist in the gastrointestinal tract.

The Gut is where we assimilate and process all of our food, breaking it down into macro and micronutrients, that our bodies can utilize.

It’s also home to the gut microbiome, the collection of microbes and their genetic material that exist in the gastrointestinal tract.

That other microbiomes that exist in the body. Such as the skin microbiome, but know we’re focused on the gut.

The gut and its resident bacteria in, break down food and extract nutrients to fuel the body, but it’s does much more than that. In fact, the gut is connected to and impacts nearly every system and organ in our body:

The Gut is the largest sensory organ:

Provide us with the invaluable information from the outside world.

 The Gut is involved in:

Immunity play an important role in immunity, protecting us from disease

Hormone regulation– it’s involved in hormone regulation, housing over 60 hormones

Weightcontrol our weight

Blood sugargut is involved in regulation of the blood sugar.

Brain health and mental health- It’s where neuron chemicals like serotonin are produced, which the brain uses to regulate memory, learning and mood.

With nearly 80% of disease being traced back to the gut, it’s deeply connected to our mental, physical, and emotional health. Learn to listen to your body and honor its cues to address signs of inflammation, intolerances, or other serious conditions. Improve your gut health and achieve greater balance in all areas of life through diet and lifestyle modifications.
